The family and friends of a student of the University of Lagos are still in mourning over the loss of a student simply identified as Seun who committed suicide on the 19th of January by ingesting an unknown substance. Seun who lived with his aunt in Mafoluku was said to have bought the substance and locked himself in his room, those in the house must have suspected what he was planning because they later forced the door open but the deed had been done, he was rushed to the hospital where he died later in the evening.
This wouldn’t be the first incident of such in recent times as another student Damilola Durojaiye a computer science student also in UNILAG committed suicide on new years eve, the 19 year old hung himself when his parents went for a cross over service in church, the parents came back home to meet his dangling body and a suicide note.
We wish the family and friends of the deceased students as well as the University of Lagos community the fortitude to bear these losses.
